Our journey will take us to the charming city of Kampot Province, located in the southern part of Cambodia along the picturesque Proek Tuek Chu and the southern gulf of Thailand. This province holds a rich history, having been built under French colonial rule. Traveling by private bus, our trip will cover approximately 159 kilometers and take around 3 hours.

Once we arrive in Kampot, we will have the opportunity to visit a pepper farm. The Kampot pepper is a special cultivar of black pepper, known for its unique taste, that has been grown and produced in Cambodia since the 20th century. Additionally, we will explore a salt farm that spans around 4748 acres of land, managed and owned by 200 families who hail from both Kampot province and town.

Before our departure today, we had the opportunity to take a short walk in the authentic village of CHAN SOR. Situated between Siem Reap city and Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, this village perfectly captures the essence of rural living. As we strolled through the village, we noticed that it was larger than a hamlet, yet smaller than a town.

Divided into two sections known as CHAN SOR THBONG and CHAN SOR JEOUNG, the village was enveloped by lush plantations, including coconut trees, jackfruit trees, banana trees, pineapple trees, and SLA trees (bitter nut trees). These vibrant trees grew harmoniously alongside houses on stilts, creating a picturesque and inviting atmosphere. It was fascinating to witness the villagers, who primarily sustain themselves by crafting brooms, weaving mats, and making delicious Khmer cakes. Our visit to the village allowed us to glimpse into their daily lives and experience the unique rhythm of their traditional work.
