Visa on Arrival – Made Simple
When you arrive, here’s what you need to do:
- Bring $30 USD in cash (exact amount is best).
- Have 2 passport-sized photos ready.
Fill out a short form at the airport – you’ll write your personal info and the address of your first hotel in Cambodia.
Supporting documents:
You can submit your Visit Local Travel trip invoice and/or booking confirmation with your application.
How to Fill Out the e-Arrival Card;
- Go to the official website – Visit https://arrival.gov.kh/
- Fill out the form – Do it online right on the site, or download the free app (available for iPhone and Android).
- Get your QR code – After you finish, you’ll get a confirmation email with your QR code.
- Save your QR code – Take a screenshot, download it, or print it out.
- Show it at immigration – When you arrive, just present your QR code to the officer.
Cambodia Foods & Drinks:
Food in Cambodia is affordable, and if you don’t like spicy food, it’s easy to ask for less heat.
Cambodian cuisine is all about balance—mixing sweet with bitter, salty with sour, and fresh with cooked. Many dishes are similar to those in nearby countries: you’ll find noodle soups like Vietnamese pho, tangy salads and sour soups from Thailand, curries influenced by India, and stir-fries and noodles from Chinese traditions.
From the time when Cambodia was part of French Indochina, the country kept a love for coffee, pâté, and fresh bread. Baguettes are served with soup, turned into sandwiches, and even sold by bicycle vendors carrying baskets of long loaves.
Western food is also easy to find in most tourist areas.

- Weather: Hot and humid all day, every day.
- Daytime: 28°C–34°C (82°F–93°F).
- Nights: Only slightly cooler.
- Dry season: Late October to May → hot, sunny, mostly clear skies, but a rare rain shower possible.
- Rainy (monsoon) season: May to October → heavy rains.
- In between: A short "in-between" period when weather switches from dry to wet or wet to dry.

Visa on Arrival – Important Points
- Most nationalities can get a visa on arrival—but not all, and not at every border crossing.
- Cost depends on your nationality.
- You’ll need at least one passport photo.
- Crucial: Make sure you get an entry stamp in your passport when you arrive. Without it, you could face arrest or a big fine.
New Online Form – Lao Digital Immigration Form (LDIF)
Laos has replaced the old paper arrival/departure cards with a new online system. Here’s the quick guide:
Who must use it?
All foreign passport holders entering or leaving Laos through these points:
- Wattay International Airport (Vientiane)
- Luang Prabang International Airport
- Pakse International Airport
- Lao–Thai Friendship Bridge I (Vientiane–Nong Khai).
How to complete it:
- Go to immigration.gov.la
- Fill in the form within 3 days before your travel date (for both arrival and departure)
- Upload your passport details and a selfie with your passport
- You’ll get a QR code – show this at immigration

Laos Food & Drink
- Local specialty: Sticky rice is served with every meal. Locals often eat with their hands and use the rice to scoop up other food—utensils aren’t always used.
- Noodles: Very common and widely available.
- Desserts: Fresh fruit is the highlight. Don't miss mangosteen—it has sweet, juicy segments that taste like nothing else.
- Western food: Easy to find in most places.
- Vegetarians: Plenty of options available.
- Special diets (e.g., gluten-free, dairy-free): These are very hard to find in Laos. If you need specific products, please bring them from home.

- Most of the year: Hot and humid. Daytime highs: 28°C–34°C (82°F–93°F). Nights are slightly cooler but still warm.
- Mountains (Nov–Mar): Much cooler. Temperatures can sometimes drop to around 10°C (50°F), so bring warm layers if you're heading to higher areas.
- In short: Expect heat and humidity most days, with mountain areas turning chilly in the cooler months.
Even Simpler (Quick Glance):
- Year-round: Hot, sticky, and sunny. Days: ~30°C. Nights: a bit cooler.
- Mountains (Nov–Mar): Can get cold — as low as 10°C (50°F). Pack a jacket!
